Children’s Education Program
The Zanaka Gasy Koliona Association is operated by Norosoa and Jimmy Rasolosoa. The association’s goal is to make education available to Malagasy children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school.
Our Goal
Jimmy and Noro live in Cholet, France where Jimmy is a practicing neurologist. They were both were born and raised in Madagascar and plan to return there to live there at some point in the future. They, and their friends started a children’s education program for children in Madagascar.
Zanaka Gassy Kolina
Zagasyko is the short name.
(It means I am Malagasy too.)
The Jared Prescott Trust began our support for this worthy cause in 2024.
Our goal is to educate as many Malagasy children as possible.
Currently one million Malagasy children are unable to attend school each year because of extreme poverty. According to United Nation reports, 75 percent of the population live below the poverty level. The UN also reports that less than 40 percent of children who do attend school actually complete their secondary education.
Most of the students who are able to attend school cannot afford basic school supplies such as pencils and paper because of the extreme poverty. Therefore, the students must rely heavily on memorization .
Your donations provide funds to pay tuition and fees, plus provide a years worth of educational supplies for each child we serve.
How the program works
Each child added to the program is assigned a mentor for the school year. The mentors are trusted volunteers, and each mentor provides each student in their group with school supplies for the year, and sees that the tuition and fees are paid. They also track how the children are doing through the year.
The needs are great and the cost is small.
The cost to send a child to school for one year is only $120 USD. Please help by donating toward sending as many deserving children to as you can.
Tell your friends about our efforts.
